A Letter to any Candidate who hasn't Taken the 9/12 Pledge

The following letter was written to Dr. Joe Heck (Heck4Nevada on Twitter) to urge him to sign the 9/12 Candidates Pledge and commit to being more than a RINO. Feel free to use it to send to your own candidates as they start to emerge for the 2010 elections.

Dear Dr. Heck, Several times I have asked you, via Twitter, if you were willing to support the 9/12 movement and sign the 9/12 Candidates Pledge. Considering the limitations of Twitter, I am now asking you via this medium. The 9/12 pledge is very simple: there are 9 principles and 12 values that a candidate might pledge to uphold. Many candidates, deciding that we've had enough of "more of the same", have taken the pledge and are being endorsed more readily on radio and TV then their counterparts who are afraid to. Dr. Heck, I believe you are a good person and a good candidate to defeat Dina Titus; however, if you will not take the bold stance of pledging to stand by your word it will be impossible to support you and I will work towards finding a candidate who will be the Right candidate, not the Sort-of Right candidate. Please consider my words carefully. I have many local contacts who are following the 9/12 movement closely. Do not be a RINO - we will not let more of the same continue.

Respectfully,

John Galt

Insight into the Minds of Liberals

Michael Savage has said that "liberalism is a mental disorder" and has even written a book titled the same. I thought that was an intriguing title, designed to sell books.

I've read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand many times, beginning first when I was 17. It changed my life and created a foundation of Objectivism on which I've based my existence. I don't think I've ever really believed that the looters (villains) of the story were actually based on real-world characters. How could they be? They are over-the-top! There's no way anyone can be THAT insane without being...well...insane.

And then, in a fit of boredom, I decided to see what the liberals on Twitter had to say about themselves. I give you the Mind of the Liberal:

  • Liberal-Mother of 2-Animal rights-Politics-Marriage equality-Legalize marijuana-Coffee-Save the planet-Polar Bears-Healthcare 4 all!

  • Progressive, Pantheist, Pro-Choice, Sex-Positive EcoFem. Loves LGBTI Rights, Leglzng Drugs, Nonviolence, Anti-Racism, Justc & Eqlty 4 All

  • I'm 42, bisexual/queer, and happily childless. I'm a Mental Health Advocate, Progressive Political Activist, and Marketing Specialist

  • Progressive always hoping that people will care for each other and the earth more

  • Writer, blogger, vegan abolitionist, therapist, advocate for animals, human rights, earth, art and music
Not being able to keep my opinions to myself, the commentary began:
  • Writer, geek, godless liberal. // short, sweet...still an idiot

  • Son is a Gitmo attorney seeking to spread truth and find justice for Fayiz Al-Kandari who is being held without charges in Gitmo. // nice. mommy of a war criminal who will probably get off because we didn't read him his Miranda rights on the battlefield. I'm sure Hitler's mommy was proud, too.

  • YES WE CAN, We're Fired Up and Ready To Go!!! // I'm sure your fearless leader would give you a big SHOUT OUT, too. Jerk.

  • Smart Girl // still trying to convince herself, I guess

  • take'n road even less traveled than that one, it's where the gold is // WTF does that mean?
At this point I decided to start grading the posts, ala maddox and his grading of school-children's artwork. My maturity level regressed at this point and isn't much better than maddox's. But hey, it's all in fun, right?
  • Key-Note Speaker/Rainmakerologist // "rainmakerologist? ummm...F for Failologist

  • I'm a human potential developer with a serendipitous approach, a single-mompreneur w/a... gift of teaching L.O.V.E. with EFT and LOA. Make yours a sparkling day! // "Single mompreneur"? Is that another word for "unemployed." I'm going to have a seizure. F your sparkles

  • Street Theater // F for having no courage to describe your true profession: unemployed puppeteer with fantasies of living in John Malcovich's body.

  • Wanna play televangelist? If u know what I mean. // I have no idea what you mean, Oral Roberts; do tell! F for cryptic liberal bullshit.

  • From the land of Minosaurs // Okay Barney. Go home. F

  • Politics, social issues, and all around Winger assassin // F for not being able to write a complete a sentence

  • ms. motivation: "not really" // A+ (not really...F!)

  • The utopia we advocate is first created in the mind // I sense another seizure...F- for not being able to create a utopia through work and effort.

  • Murdering fear mongering republicans since 1989 // That might be true if you were more than 15. F until you graduate 9th grade, then we'll talk.

  • Law, social justice, nature, human & animal rights, arts, ecology, indie music & film. // we're all equal, yayyy. F

  • 53 yr old Vet, Married, 5 kids. I block teabaggers faster than they can pull their heads out of their ASSSS!!!!!!!!!! // FFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Publish UK Progressive, social media change leader, freelance journalist, BBC and HuffPost contributor / You forgot F for FASCIST, fool

  • Feminism: equality for all! // F to you Miss "I need someone to make rules for me because I really believe in the glass ceiling!"

  • Liberal activist, professional webby, friend, wife, OFA'er, and Hopemonger. // "Hopemonger"? "OFA'er"? F for making up words that don't exist.

  • And I give you barbiesnow - "Obama Rapid Responder: who Loves this Country and our wonderful President, living in a RED state is not easy, but we blues bloom where we are planted." // First of all, what is an "Obama Rapid Responder"? And when she says "planted" does she mean like a flower or a political plant?

I gotta tell you, this last one truly put me over the edge. Are they really out there? Must be...and I'm sure, more to come.
